WE FOUND AMERICAN CHEESE AND HENIZ KETCHUP! =)
for those of you who know my grilled cheese and ketchup addiction.. this was maybe the greatest day ever. since friday we have been on the lookout for american cheese. now given that we're are not in america, its not rocket science that it is not readily available. granted i think true londoners are being deprived of the bland and simple cheese named after our country, but its one of my favorites.
So long story short, after sifting thru every single type of cheddar cheese made, we finally found a bright orange package. now much to my dismay it didnt have a neon arrow above it directing me to the gold mine, but simple a package..
sounds like american to me
the packaging... beyond sketch. but hell, it was only 1 pound and it didnt say cheddar cheese! Before we left the market I searched high and low for heniz ketchup and SUCCESS! Turns out the cheese was basically kraft singles. now normally i would never choose this for my grilled cheese, typically i'm a land-o-lakes white american girl at heart and if i'm feeling fancy, maybe some pepper-jack.... but never kraft singles. But there is always and exception. Needless to say, after all the eatting out we have done since we have been here; italian, pizza, burgers, sandwiches... this neon yellow died cheese has to be the best ive ever tasted...grilled cheese takes the cake!
yummmmm.
(p.s i ate mine so fast a couldnt take a pic,
but this looks just as good as mine!)
Continuing on the grocery list. Shopping here has been rather difficult. prices arent so bad, but we constantly forget the conversion rate and how badly the UK is screwing us out of our money. I stocked up on some necessry items today such a water, juice, cheese, bread, butter, nutella and some pre- made pasta dishes i can heat up. (granted i have nothing other a frying pan here)
I have offically come to realize why america is obese... our food is the shit! the grocery stores here are half the side because they have a quarter of the choices than we do. no joke, four or five cereals, not an whole isle. Another downfall, they dont have real peanut butter. JIF peanut butter may be the second greatest invention behind ketchup... and its not here.
After dinner erin did some research and found another market close that has things for us americans...
think we got a little excited?
After a day full of walking, meeting and shopping... the girls and i were absolutely exhausted and decided to stay in tonight. thank god because i was finally able to unpack all my clothes, skype with friends (bc everyone is snowed in!) and most importantly put my pictures up! .... yess i even brought pictures to london with me, i have a slight obsession. Second highlight of the night... JEDEDIAH!
i miss my rhode island buddy. <3
That was the day in a nut shell. i was exhausted before, but now i get a second wind. not really the time for it...great. Wishing my lil broskii good luck on his game tonight! He's be kicking ass lately... keep up the family name i suppose. I wish could be there hake!
Heres a new song i heard, pretty popular over here in the UK. Time to expand your horizons people, and listen to something a little new. if i can... you sure as hell can. =)
