Kiss Me, I'm Irish

  happy belated st. patricks day

hands down,
best holiday of the year.

i absolutley love st. patricks day. nothing beats wearing ridiculous amounts of green accompanied by loud accessories such a green beer sunglasses, glitter shamrocks and fake green pigtails. not that i wore any of that this st. patricks day, but if i was in america i certainly would have. unfortunately the americanize holiday isnt so popular here in london town. talk about a bummer. non of the stores had a st. pattys day section with silly irish accessories. none.... i mean nothing at all. it was a task just to find a green t-shirt! so depressing. well although london clearly sucks at celebrating such an epic holiday, erin and i decided to take it into our own hands. turns out .. we were the only ones. well correction, not the only ones in london but of our friends. a group of us planned to go out on thursday night, and they all showed up ... and there was a seriously lack of green. unfortunately being abroad leaves us all broke, so noone wanted to go out to buy green, but then again, we couldnt find any anyway so i guess it doesnt matter. anyway, erin and i were the only ones in green green. leave it to the two irish girls.

luckily i received two wonderful care packages the day before, both contained st patricks day items! hannah sent me a shamrock necklace with a shot glass at the end, typical cvs novelty, that makes the holiday that much better! and my aunt send me glow in the dark straws, so of course i picked the out the green ones, and we drank out of them all night!

for the record. glow in the dark straws.
sick. i want more!

i also received some festive things in a care package from ann a few weeks ago .. so we used the napkin but not the cookie cutter. i went on a search for green food coloring ... all i wanted was green shamrock chocolate chip cookies on st. pattys day .. but no, london hates me, and the fact that im irish and have the sweetest holiday dedicated to it. well, the cookies we put on hold, and will be made eventually.. perhaps next year? but i at least had to care the shamrock around with me for a little while.

obsessed.

anyway. we decided to venture to liverpool to find an irishpub. there is a chain restaurant called o'neills that we also considered but didnt know where it was exactly, so if we happened to find it, we were going to go. well we ended up in a irish pub erin went to with her parents while they were here. cute little place, but there werent many people there. i was ok with it, i hate when places are super busy and you cant even move around. so we hung out there for a little while and celebrated. leave it to natasha, i came up with the brilliant idea to do irish carbombs. ok, probably not the best life decision but given the day, completely acceptable. except, when i went to order, the bartender had no idea what i was talking about. ummm.... seriously? i literally went down the line asking each bartender and none of them knew what it was. pathetic. so i had to talk her through it ... jameson and baileys in a shot, and a glass of Guinness please. well the plus to them not knowing what it was ... she had no idea what to charge me for. i think we ended up paying like under four pounds for it, sweet deal.

yummmmm.

well after about and hour and a half we left the pub and headed home. i had to go home and clean my room because my friend michaela was coming on friday, and of course .. my room was a disaster. on the way home we spotted some other irish fans rocking sweet guinness hats .. where the heck did they get those, i want one .. clearly we went to the wrong pub. but regardless we had a good st. patricks day given our situation. although, i cannot wait to be back in the states for it next year. london really needs to work on their irish spirit.

me and jade =)

i dont really know if my obsession with being half irish is exactly healthy, but i dont care.
i mean after all, i have a celtic heart tattooed..its only right that i love it so much.
[ off the record: baba doesnt know i have one, so lets not mention it to her ]

a day dedicated to drinking and corn beef, sign me up.
speaking of, i didnt get any this year, not acceptable.
but overall, successful st. patricks day.
cheers to being irish.
drink up.

<3 kiss me, i'm irish.
