we started off with a boat cruise leaving from tower hill. this was a typical "sightseeing" boat, where you were able to sit outside on the top and listen to random facts about london and so on. the first thing we saw was london bridge.
once we arrived in greenwich we split off into group to go around the town. first stop: walking tour of the Royal Naval Hospital and College.
the inside of the painted hall
next stop: national maritime museum
(but we didnt go in)
see that building at the top of the hill...
that was out next stop
the observatory.
view from the top.
then we ventured to the prime meridian... the highlight of our trip!
the line to take your photo on the line
[ btw: can i just say once people made their way to the front, they would take a picture on one side of the line. uhhh helllo? are you serious! the whole point is to be in two places at once, and these dumb tourist pose on one side as if the main focus is the metal sculpture behind them. winner winner]
time line.
east hemisphere, meet the west.
lets hear it for new york!
in two places at once!
all the girls.
so before this next photo, allow me to explain my logic.
ever "touristy" place we go to i always laugh at the massive number of people who pose for pictures. not granted i am certainly one of them (as you know from my photos) but none of mine have been anything crazy. so i decided that from now on, if it fits the location, im going to do one ridiculous photo, regardless of how stupid i look doing it. i mean, ill have the photo forever, i suppose its worth a few seconds of humiliation in front of strangers ill never see again. with that said, the night before greenwich i was thinking of what to do at the prime meridian, and then it came to me.
in both hemispheres.. upside down.
ultimate tourist photo,
mission: complete.
so in order to take your picture in front of this spot, you have to wait in line. once u finally get up there, you better get all the pictures you want, because you dont have another shot. well, we all took our individuals, and then a group shot and then it was my turn. i was legit sweating before this. leave it to me to be nervous for something so stupid. im taking i couldnt even take my jacket off because my hands were shaking.... stage fright i suppose. well once i finally we ready and did a back bend, a group of people just go "wooooooooooooooow". so needless to say i started dying laughing.
overall the day was a success. im super behind with my blog because ive been so bus, but i think thats a good thing. we have the superbowl on sunday... so we are BEYOND stoked for american fooooootballlll!! other than that, nothing to exciting this week. time to take a break from the chaos.
<3. the ultimate tourist.

The whole East/West Hemisphere/Two Place at Once Thing is SO RIDICULOUS. It's mindblowing! I love that your over there and hope you realize I've been living vicariously through you all this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone. I get really shy before taking my picture in front of a monument and stuff like that haha. I don't get so nervous that I shake and can't take my jacket off, but I get really shy. It's because all of those people are watching you and they're totally judging you on how you took your picture haha. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself! And I'm COMPLETELY jealous that you got to go to the Prime Meridian. I LOVE Geography.
