so once again, its been forever since my last blog, but i haven't had anything blog worthy to write about in a while. this past week was just school, no fun. but something new, erin's parents are here for the week! they flew over friday night and are here for the week =) its SO nice not only see someone from home but to see one of the girl's parents. i feel like its been forever since ive seen my own =( .
so today poppa donovan took us to our first uk football game. ( fulham v. bolton)
and im pleased to announce that aside from the crappy weather, we had a blast. its been forever since ive been to a sporting event, and i have been going through withdrawal. i cant watch any sort of sport in person or on tv, and its not ok. but, today that changed and to top off just being at a game, we had awesome seats... right behind the goal. now i dont know very much about soccer, and idk if soccer fans consider these good seats because they cant see the whole length of the field, but to me these seats were pretty sweet.
so given i dont know much about soccer nor do i follow it, i was nervous for the game because i figured id be beyond lost. luckily my days of working the soccer games at roger helped, and i wasn't completely clueless. . although we sat in neutral territory and didn't have to choose a specific team to win, i ended up rooting for fulham. [ they had two americans on their team.... yehhha USA] but other than that reason, i could have cared less who won. unless someone can accurately compare the teams to the yankees and sox or giants and patriots, it'll be impossible to pick a team. anyway, it was really easy to get into the spirit of the football game. the fans were so loud and they not only cheer but start chants. they pretty much sing the whole time, it was so awesome. the other thing that was cool was how close you were to the players. aside from our seats being really close, i dont think there are "bad seats" in that stadium. regardless of where you were, everything was pretty close.

as the game went on, i decided that aaron hughes is my new favorite football player.
oh heyyy =)
[[ but for the record, i'm still going to marry mark teixeria ]]
up close and personal.
solid action shot.
Final Score
Fulham 0 :: Bolton 1
after the game, erin, lauren, mama and poppa donovan and i headed to the pub for a drink. this was one of the first really pubs we've been it. pretty basic stand up bar, not like the other that had tv's and a whole restaurant section. plain and simple.
"the pub's run by football fans, for football fans"
erin and lo
after drinks, we headed to piccadilly circus for some dinner. but of course on the way, we all had to pee. i mean it would be logical for us to go before we left the game... but we didnt. so we spotted a restroom, or should i say toilets. and of course, you have to pay for them. usually public toilets are about 30 pence to use, but this one ... a pound. seriously london? you're already depleting my bank account with the conversion rate, you have to take more money for me to pee?
not cool.
but on with the story, we ended up at a restaurant called bella italia. although the service wasnt so great
[ what do you expect when they dont work for tips here]
we had a good meal and it was nice to catch up and just chit chat.
tomorrow the girls and i are waking up early in hopes that we can get student discount tickets for wicked! ive wanted to see that show for so long, why not see it in london?
this week at school we have our GIS week. [ guided independent study ]
the professors cancel lecture and seminar for the week and allow you to catch up on your work and reading. some assign little assignments in lieu of class and the others just tell you to read. well at first i was going to take this week off to travel to portugal, but when i thought about it, i should get my work done now because march is going to be beyond busy. i have almost all of my assignments due, we are going to scotland and paris and the weekends we are in london, we have friends coming to visit. and lets be real, im not going to want to do my homework while we are away or have friends here. so i guess this is the week to crack down. the plan is school work and a week pass at the gym and the occasional day adventure for a break. hopefully i can stick to this plan, but its very easy to be distracted in london.
some clips of london.
man impersonating an elvis statue
roast chicken chips anyone?
this was perhaps the funniest headline in the evening standard
ive see so far..
"CPS drops the case of assault by flying sausage"
seriously?!
some chick experienced retinal bleeding as a result of a food fight,
and attempted to sue for it.
bizarre if you ask me.
